Dental Insurance – “Utilize For Your Preferred Network Plan”

Dental insurance is nothing but a type of insurance that are designed to pay a portion of the costs associated with dental care. The dental insurance can be classified in to three major categories such as

• Indemnity
• Preferred Provide Network dental plans
• Dental Health Managed Organizations

The indemnity can also be called as true dental insurance that allows you to see any dentist whom you want and who accepts insurance, Preferred Provide Network dental plans and DHMO in which you are assigned to an in-network dentist or in-network dental office and must stay within that network to receive your dental benefits.

Generally dental insurance companies have similar fee schedules that are based on Usual and Customary dental services. When a dentist signs a contract with a health insurance company, then the provider will agree to match the insurance fee schedule and give their customer service at low cost, this is considered an In-Network Provider or Participating Provider network (PPO).

Some insurance companies may have an annual maximum benefit limit. If the annual plan is exhausted then the additional treatments may become the patient's responsibility. In that orthodontics have a separate limit. Some plans may depend on the type of treatment rendered. After the deductible is met, the remaining dental plan benefit is paid at its specified percentage or fee schedule.

According to dental insurance company they divide the benefits, services, or procedures into many categories and they refer them with American Dental Association (ADA) 3-4 digit code. The basic procedures include fillings, periodontics, endodontics, and oral surgery.

The procedures also include crowns, dentures, and implants. Procedures such as periodontics, endodontics, and oral surgery depend on specific plan with specific fee schedules and co-payments. Some dental insurance may also offer free semi-annual preventative treatment. Fillings, crowns, implants and dentures may have various limitations.
